GMail and SSL

I haven’t looked at the packets flowing on the wire yet, but it does look like Google Mail (ney Gmail) allows you to use HTTPS (with SSL) to read email. Also, there seems to be little, if any, performance problems with it. Time to sniff the wire and verify, since Google uses a lot of tricks to hide things under it using XML-RPC basically.
