Winter Bizarro-World
Yesterday it was 70, and I was driving around with the windows and sunroof open. Today, I awoke to rain—and open windows. After closing them, it began to snow very heavily, sticking to everything with that wet, heavy snow of late spring. Now, I look outside and the roads, which just 30 minutes ago had 1” of snow on them are now clear again.
Bizarre. These late winter snowstorms are always interesting. It mixes well with lamb stew made with apricots and prunes and served with brown jasmine rice.

Yeah, it’s imported from Thailand, and I buy it at Dungrat’s market in Bailey’s Crossroads. I believe it’s labeled “Dragon Rice,” but it is a blend of brown (i.e. bran still on) jasmine rice, and red rice.
I love that weather. New England gets that kind of weather well into april. Defrosting the car in the morning, cranking the AC in the afternoon.
Its nice and mild here in Scotland though.

Brown jasmine rice?
I’ve seen brown short-grain, long-grain and basmati … but jasmie? Are you sure?
BTW, as part of my healthier eating, I’ve discovered that whole grain rice and pasta is good stuff, not nearly as crunchy or rubbery as many assume.
