Pensieri di un lunatico minore

4 December 2005 Review

Lyrical Pi

There is a song, entitled “Pi” on Kate Bush’s latest album, Aerial, during which Kate Bush uses the digits of Pi (3.14 …) as a core component of the lyrical stream. Brilliant, and I am convinced that only Kate Bush could pull that off without it sounding forced. Her new album, which I bought yesterday, is so far quite lovely.

It has been so many years since Kate Bush released her last album—12 in fact—that many people might be excused for thinking that the woman who effectively invented the ethereal female vocalist genre, and brought a level of artistry and originality that few others have ever matched. It’s amazing to pick this album up and find a fresh view, but obvious the same artist behind it.

I am also a Kate Bush fan. My favourite song from this album is Sunset.
