Non-registration trials and Protopage
As I was looking at the latest release of Protopage, I noticed something very cool. You can try out the system without having to register any information. When you do this, it creates a page that doesn’t have a “human-friendly” URL, and expires in 48 hours, but can be then linked to a registered account. Protopage is, to quote them:
Protopage = personalized news + sticky notes + bookmarks, all on one page.
This is a brilliant idea to allow people to try something without leaving usernames and passwords all over the place, which is a huge security hole given the password re-use that exists online.
