Tradeshow sodomy

From the gang at Rogue Amoeba (great software, BTW) comes this little excerpt:

[ ... ] the actual cost for 4 days of internet access is $1095. I’ll repeat that, because it bears repeating. Internet access for exhibitors at Macworld San Francisco is one thousand ninety five dollars. That’s $273.75 per day, or $37.76 per hour that the exhibit hall is open.

That’s actually not the worst I’ve seen. For that you get one Ethernet drop. And usually crappy connectivity that’s flakey, unreliable and slow. They go on to discuss the absurdity of trade shows, like renting a garbage can for $17/day. Carpet was always the one that got me the worst. Paying to rent crappy carpet at a rate that should get me hand polished marble floors inlayed with gold.

It’s a hell of a racket.
