Ironic irony
A suburban Chicago school board is refusing to reconsider its decision banning an article on tolerance by a gay student in the school newspaper.
You can’t make this stuff up. So what’s their reasoning?
“Our decision is based upon the district’s desire to maintain a position of neutrality in matters of political controversy, our belief that the subject matter is not appropriate for publication in the school newspaper and out of concern for your safety,” [Principal] Snyder said in a letter to [student author] Delaney.
That’s right. A “concern for your safety.” Because ideas are dangerous, and if people are taught to accept one-another, and not hate each-other, we might all die. Wait…
