Sony Reader
A while back, I mentioned that I was looking at the Sony e-book reader from Japan, and now, via CES, Sony has announced a replacement called the Sony Reader. It looks like a nice box, and rather than hobble it, they’ve opened it up some for PDF and other formats. They even talk about reading blogs on it, which would be interesting.
So far, the software is PC-only, but hopefully that’s just a matter of time.

Who said I’d buy anything from those morons? It’s great tech, though, and “Make”http://www.makezine.com/blog/archive/2005/08/how_to_make_drm_1.html has had some articles on how to creating the BBeB format, so I can move all my online docs and things to it for easy reference.
Make it hard for me to spend money, and you won’t get any.
Any idea how much this doodad is going to cost?
The best estimates I’ve heard are $300-400, which seems high. $299 would be a good price point initially, with it moving to $199 or so with time and volume.
Then again, Sony is always overpriced.

Not only is the software PC only, the Connect Store website is IE only:

Clueless, completely clueless.
