Brewing beer in a frigid February
Yesterday, Randy, James and myself spent a few hours in the balmy 30-degree February weather brewing beer. More accurately, proto-beer, or wort, which will become beer after the friendly yeast get their dinner. After waiting for Randy’s water-filtering contraption (a McGyvered Brita filter) to do it’s job—something that took about 3,000 hours—we were able to begin the process, using a turkey fryer as a heat source.
For the event, we were joined by Randy and Katherine’s Pomeranian dog Murray, who is quickly becoming the mascot for all beer brewing. Unfortunately, he nearly froze to death, in-spite of being kept inside various jackets and costumes. You can see some photos in the Flickr stream.
