Pensieri di un lunatico minore

Moment of weakness

I have had the same Titanium PowerBook for years. It’s been through hell and back, and had its LCD replaced once—I think, maybe twice—and has long since lost part of its paint. Last night, when out to dinner with a friend, I finally succumb to the bug, and bought a new MacBook Pro.

I had been thinking about it for a while, and when the new 17” MacBook came out I decided it was time to buy one. I was toying, however, with the decision of whether to go for the 15” or 17” model. I currently had a 15”, and I thought it was likely the ideal size, but the price point on the 17”, with better features for less money, was tempting.

In the end, I went for the entry-level MacBook Pro, and will invest the money saved in more memory and an external 20” LCD for less than what the 17” MacBook would have cost. Otherwise, none of the other features really made a big difference to me.

So far, it’s blindingly fast, and the screen is so gorgeous it’s impossible to describe appropriately. It puts my 20” Dell desktop monitor at work to shame.

You bought a computer while out to dinner? ;)

Alas, yes. I had been thinking about it for a while, and happened to be walking past the Clarendon Apple store near where I live, and wandered in to look at the pretty shiny things. Boom! Walked home with it, for fear someone would mug me!

OMG, so jealous.

Don’t hate me because my notebook’s beautiful.

Dinner was good and I’m a Mac geek as well. So it really wasn’t that unusual to see the Apple store. LOL.

I’ve got a 17” pb now, and when they announced.. I too was weak, and already ordered a decked out 17” MBP. Currently listed on site as shipping the 8th and here by the 15th. Can’t wait.

My mom wanted to get my dad a new laptop for his birthday too, and I convinced her to get him a 15” MBP. :) Should show up this week and I’ll have to head over to their place to setup parallels for him to run that 1 windows app he just can’t do his job without.

Must … resist …
