A rainy departure from Seattle

As difficult as it might be to believe, it’s raining in Seattle. It’s almost 11am, and I’m about to leave my hotel on first hill and head to the airport. It’s been a great trip for me. I had never been to the city before, and I’ve had a chance to see a lot of the area—from the sound, to the mountains and take a few ferries. It’s a beautiful area, and the people have been pretty nice. I’ve met a few interesting people—which is always a bonus—but I do have to say that people here seem self-conciously alternative, if that makes sense.

Seattle definitely goes on the list of places I could see myself living. My flight back is a non-stop into Dulles and a friend is picking me up, which makes everything a lot easier.

I grew up in Seattle. It’s a wonderful place, and yes – people are self-conciously alternative.

90 days of sun per year (+/-) leaves the countryside a wonderful shade of green…(Including the cars…)

Although, the prices for housing in Seattle are becoming that of SF, DC, and LA…

Glad to hear that you had a good time in Seattle. I am a native of the emerald city, relocated to the “other Washington” about a year and a half ago, after a stint in Boston. All of this just to say that yes, Seattleites are self-conciously alternative, but after living in Boston, I’d say that they are just too concerned with being polite, PC, and so different that oddly, they all seem the same…, but I still love my home city.
