I am a native of the emerald city, relocated to the "other Washington" about a year and a half ago, after a stint in Boston. All of this just to say that yes, Seattleites are self-conciously alternative, but after living in Boston, I'd say that they are just too concerned with being polite, PC, and so different that oddly, they all seem the same..., but I still love my home city. It's a wonderful place, and yes - people are self-conciously alternative. 90 days of sun per year (+/-) leaves the countryside a wonderful shade of green...(Including the cars...) Although, the prices for housing in Seattle are becoming that of SF, DC, and LA... I grew up in Seattle. It’s a wonderful place, and yes – people are self-conciously alternative.
