Blanks on a Blank
There are many reasons to love the Alamo Cinema Drafthouse in Austin, TX, but I have just discovered yet another one. They are having a contest: Blanks on a Blank for amateur film-makers in the area to submit their own animal on a vehicle films. Go look, they’re brilliant.
So far my favorite1 is “Fox on a Kayak,” but I have to ask: where’s the eels on a hovercraft?
1 Favorite based on how amusing I find the title.

I could never be a movie reviewer because I find all sorts of things equally interesting, but on different axis. What amazed me was the level of creativity demonstrated by all the participants, and a reminder that something like that wouldn’t work here in DC.
Man I miss Austin sometimes.
Austin and especially the Alamo Drafthouse are two examples of the “good” that is still left in film. Although I don’t feel that this particular short really embodies what is great about Austin and the Drafthouse, it reminds me of the things that make the city such an incredible place to live and comingle.

Thanks for the compliment on our film.. We had a great time making “Foxes on a Kayak” and glad that you enjoyed it.. even if it is just the name that you found amusing…
A compliment is a compliment in our book, especially since we didn’t make it into the top 20…
So you’ve made our day today.
Thanks
