Fascinating insight into executive thought
Jonathan Schwartz is not like other CEOs. Whether it is his pony-tail, or his background, he’s approached leading Sun quite differently, and it makes for a fascinating time. What makes it more fascinating is that he keeps a rather “deep” blog, in contrast to alot of other executives who have little more than press releases. Take the latest salvo around the NetApp/ZFS lawsuit:
So now it looks like we can’t avoid responding to their litigation, as frustrated as I am by that (as I said, we have zero interest in suing them). I wanted to outline our response (even if it tips off the folks at Net App), and for everyone to know where we’re headed.
He then goes forth to articulate their position both rationally and clearly, something rarely done in the legal filings themselves. It’s a fascinating read. ZFS is a fascinating storage system, and I think Sun did themselves a disservice by calling it a “file system”.
