Vote

I don’t care whether you’re a Democrat, an Independent or even a Republican. As an American you have an obligation to the country to participate in this year’s major Presidential election. I’ve gotten into it with people in the past over not participating, and to me that’s even more the issue than who you vote for. The steps are easy:

  1. Get informed on the candidates: Barack Obama, John McCain, Bob Barr or even Ralph Nader.
  2. Do your own damned research.
  3. Make sure you’re registered to vote.
  4. Vote

And for those who think that it doesn’t matter, just look at the last eight years and ask yourself if it “didn’t matter”. And if you see someone trying to suppress the vote, call them out for the traitors that they truly are. I don’t throw that word around lightly, but there’s nothing else to call it but a treasonous behavior to undermine democracy itself.

Erm…

Only the votes of those who actually give some thought about who to vote for, contribute positively to democracy.

If you don’t care one way or another, chances are, the country is better off if you don’t vote.

I believe there’s evidence that uninformed voting makes it more difficult rather than easier for the best candidate to win.

So you might want to call out for people to do research and think about the issue, and then to vote if they realize they care, but not vote if they don’t. No use making it a coin toss.

I do understand what you’re saying Denis, but I think that if people were actually more encouraged to vote—and not fed the constant drivel from sound-bites—that people would find more information. Then again, I think all party information should be stripped from the ballots, as it encourages simplistic party-line decisions.
